Coats and Heating Project |
|
With the weather changing, it would be very sensible for students to bring coats in to school. When wet (or very cold) we will operate ‘IN Day’ with students being able to access allocated rooms at break and lunch BUT may students prefer to be outside when possible and coats do make a massive difference. Please name coats where possible.
We are pleased to report that our very large building project to replace all the heating in the main ‘Christchurch’ building is now very nearly complete. The system is being commissioned slightly ahead of schedule and should be ready for after half-term. We expect it to take a few weeks to adjust rooms that are ‘too hot’ or ‘too cold’ however we are sure we will find this an improvement from the old heating. |

Bus Passes and Catering QR Codes |
|
A massive thank you to Students and Parents for helping us with getting bus passes and catering QR codes sorted ready for the 10th of October. We have been out checking bus passes and QR codes and the absolute majority of students have managed to show us these without hesitation. This has made a big difference in catering and has meant buses are easily checked. THANK YOU! |

United Against Bullying |
|
You may or may not be aware that Highcliffe School is participating in the Anti-Bullying Alliance ‘United Against Bullying’ programme this year. Throughout the upcoming months you will receive more information with regards to student involvement with various surveys and roles in order to promote our zero tolerance approach to bullying. Together we aim to tackle any bullying behaviours by creating united awareness and transparency with our policy. Students will begin to see posters and various signs around the school to spread our word that we are a ”telling school” and stand up to these behaviours. We will soon be launching the role of the Anti-Bullying ambassador and look forward to seeing positive student involvement in this cause.
Miss Whitney is leading our involvement with this programme. If anyone wishes for more information about this process you can contact her through Office@highcliffeschool.com.
You can find the school’s anti-bullying policy here: Anti-bullying policy

Items not permitted in school |
|
It would appear during the summer, Vapes have become very popular with the 13 – 16 age group. This appears to be a trend across the country and it is something we are keen to get on top of here at Highcliffe School. Vapes come in many different sizes and some are very easy to conceal as they can look like a highlighter pen or lip gloss. As a school we have noticed more students vaping and as such the sanction for a student being caught vaping, or being with someone who is vaping, is an automatic suspension. We have always been very clear with students regarding all smoking related material and up until now have seen very few incidents taking place. To help stop vapes being brought into school please could we ask that parents regularly check their son/daughters bag for items that are not permitted in school. This includes chewing gum, tippex, aerosol anti perspirant cans as well as smoking related materials including vapes.
Members of staff on duty will go into the toilets to move groups of students on and to ensure the wellbeing and safety of students is maintained. We do not have CCTV in toilets and will not do so. However, we do have CCTV in the corridors around the toilets and would like students to report incidents of anti-social behaviour in the toilets to a member of staff. |

After half term, Year 7 students will receive their Highcliffe Ready Challenge certificate in recognition of the work they did to prepare for their transition to Highcliffe School.
You will recall that we lent each child a copy of a book called ‘Go Big’ by Matthew Burton. We have a large number of students who have not returned these books. Please can you have a look for this book at home and return it to your child’s tutor. |
